About urolithin A

Not present in any food

Pomegranates, berries and walnuts contain only its precursors (ellagitannins), which gut bacteria convert to urolithin A in a two-step metabolism. That is why it has to be supplied as a high-purity ingredient.

Fewer people produce it as they age

Cohort studies show that the share of people who produce only urolithin A (the UM-A metabotype) falls from about 80% in childhood to about 55% after age 40, and around 10% of people produce none at all. The target population is precisely the group whose own production is declining.

The first natural molecule shown in human studies to induce mitophagy

Mechanistic studies have been published in Nature Medicine, Nature Metabolism and other journals; the scientific foundation of the category continues to be built by the global research community.

Disclaimer: this mechanism and its associated efficacy claims may not be used commercially without authorisation from the patent holder; Taiyi Health does not hold the corresponding patents.

Taiyi Health's Science Department has completed research on a new urolithin A pathway; patent filing in progress
